Literacy for Learning in the Content Areas
Literacy standards are an integral part of all course descriptions K-12. They support content specific standards through complex texts, academic vocabulary, knowledge building and engaging in evidence-based speaking, listening, reading and writing.
At the secondary level the Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) include strands to support literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. These strands can be accessed in your content specific course description found on .
Although not content area specific, speaking and listening standards are also included in all course descriptions including history/social studies, science, and technical subject courses.
